Repair to The South Downs
& Arundel Castle
24th- 28th June 2023

The South Downs National Park may be the newest in the UK but centuries of human habitation have shaped the landscape and dictated where people have chosen to live and work.

We start our day with a visit to the ancient market town of Petersfield, described as the Gateway to the South Downs. Formerly an important coaching centre, you will have time to perhaps explore the Petersfield Museum, the Physic Garden or  the Norman church of St Peter’s.

After lunch we pay a visit to Arundel Castle, a stately home and fortified castle set high on a hill commanding superb views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Famous not only for its finely preserved interior, the castle also has wonderful gardens, including a colourful rose garden & the brilliant Earl’s Garden.

On your free day you will have the opportunity to explore Bognor Regis, which has long been one of the UK's favourite coastal towns and regularly tops the UK charts for the most sunshine hours in a year, with some of the finest Blue Flag beaches in Britain.

We will also have a day out visiting Petworth, famed for it’s 37 antique shops and art galleries, before we pay a visit to the Weald & Downland Living Museum, an open-air museum with a collection of over 50 original buildings spanning a period of 600 years and home to the BBC’s Repair Shop. As well as the historic buildings there are period gardens, farm animals and walking trails.
